“Unite the Right”, the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, VA resulted in a number of casualties after a vehicle ran into a crowd.
The victims were actually members of a big anti-fascist, or Antifa, rally that is against the racist gathering. Additionally, the vehicle could have been used intentionally, as an act of violence.
A victim stated that “they were just bulldozing through people”. He said that “They just hit the gas and hit me…and then people just chased after them, throwing stuff at the car after that.”
Furthermore, the protesters had been chanting “whose streets, our streets” when the incident happened.
The Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, declared a state of emergency.
Thus far, a number of victims were hospitalized. Furthermore, the mayor of Charlottesville, Mike Signer, reported that there has been one fatality.
I am heartbroken that a life has been lost here. I urge all people of good will–go home.
